Mackay Agility Yard Underway: A Community Coming Together

Recently at RSPCA Mackay, our Mackay State High School Explore participants were thrilled to officially receive the first instalment of the new agility yard—the agility ramp!

This isn’t just any ramp; it was specially built by the local Men’s Shed, with components generously donated by the local Bunnings. It was a wonderful experience for participants to help with its installation and see this special piece of equipment come to life.

The new agility yard will be an amazing addition to HPHH programs, allowing participants to expand their handling and training skills in an outdoor environment, where they can practice new techniques with the ramp while also supporting the socialisation and enrichment of the animals. Outdoor spaces like this are important for animals in care, allowing them to roam, explore new smells, and engage in meaningful activities with participants.

We can’t wait to see the countless moments of connection between hearts and paws that will unfold in this special space. Stay tuned for more updates as the agility yard takes shape!
