Little Rocks, Big Impact: Spreading Joy in Mackay

In the lead-up to their mock interviews, our Mackay Explore participants took part in a creative and heart-warming activity inspired by the Kindness Rocks QLD movement—a community project where people paint uplifting messages on rocks and hide them for others to discover.

After noticing these colourful, inspirational rocks around local parks and gardens, the group explored different ways to bring joy and calm into their lives—through meditation, time in nature, art, and small acts of kindness.

The rocks quickly became a favourite idea, offering a simple way to spread happiness both to themselves and to others in the community.

Ahead of their interviews, participants selected a plain rock from the gardens, chose a meaningful quote or message, and created their own kindness masterpiece. What began as a calming activity soon became a beautiful expression of creativity, connection and confidence—perfectly reflecting the spirit of our participants and their journey in Explore.

Keep an eye out around Mackay…you might just find one of their messages waiting to brighten your day!
