Teamwork for Shauno the Greyhound
One of the Handle groups at our Wacol location recently prepared Shauno the greyhound—a shelter favourite at RSPCA Brisbane Animal Care Campus—for a meet and greet with a well-deserved bath, hoping his squeaky-clean coat and fresh smell would make a great first impression.
Having bathed Shauno before, the group knew he was nervous with the process, so they came armed with patience, positive reinforcement, and gentle encouragement to make it as comfortable as possible. Each participant took turns with different bath duties, but what stood out most was the teamwork between Christopher and Connor on conditioner and rinse duty.
Chris showed remarkable awareness of Shauno’s body language, offering soothing reassurance while carefully working in the conditioner. He also guided Connor with thoughtful pieces of advice, like making sure to wash under Shauno’s belly so no residue was left that could irritate him later. Connor gratefully embraced the feedback, openly thanking Chris for his knowledge and guidance. Their exchange turned a simple bath into a beautiful moment of teamwork, respect, and shared learning.
