‘Brought tears to my eyes’: How Claire was inspired to join HPHH

Claire Jordan was born in Zimbabwe. She moved to Australia when she was young and continued to travel the world while growing up. Her favourite animals are penguins because they’re cute, and remind her of her childhood imaginary friend, Pengie the Penguin.

As our Head of People & Capability, Claire is a busy bee. She is a ‘fur-riendly’ face, always ensuring that everyone is healthy and happy at HPHH.

Before she worked at HPHH, Claire worked in HR for many industries, including community services, engineering, insurance, education, architecture and manufacturing. While she wasn’t looking for a job when she stumbled across a story about HPHH, it brought her to tears and inspired her to join us.

“I have a daughter with a disability with complex needs. I was inspired to join HPHH after hearing such amazing stories of HPHH making such a difference to so many people,” Claire says.

“I believe the human-animal bond can heal and support people so much; it is truly magic.”

Claire loves working at HPHH because of how genuinely passionate and dedicated the team is to creating real change in the lives of people and rescue animals. One of her most memorable moments since joining HPHH was receiving a gift at Christmas time.

“I received a lovely Christmas gift and such a kind hand-written note from our CEO, Zoe Black. That was a first for me,” Claire says.

Long before she joined HPHH, Claire was once almost killed by an elephant. Maybe this is why if she was to be any animal, she would choose a cheetah – so she can run away quickly.

“I have seen [a cheetah] in the wild, and they are the most beautiful animals I have ever seen,” she said.

When she’s not at work, you can find Claire at home playing with her children and dogs, gardening or doing yoga. She loves dogs and puppies, and seeing puppies in a dog pram, always makes her smile.

If she could visit any fictional place, she would pick Neverland from Peter Pan.
